Im newly diagnosed in February, I'm on hydroxychloroquine since February. Not had many problems just some stomached cramps nothing I can't handle. I forgot to take my tablets on Friday and woke up on Saturday feeling rather rubbish, nothing new there I wake up feeling poo most mornings. Usually I feel normal by 12ish but yesterday I just felt like I was having a permenant adrenalin rush, my heart was pounding and I felt sick n giddy with cold hands. It was line that all day, I tried to relax and it calmed a bit but when I went to bed I couldn't sleep, my mind was racing and my heart still pounding with the shaky, giddy, sick feeling. I eventually feel asleep around 2am and had to get up twice to my baby and now Ive been awake since 7am and can't sleep. I feel better than yesterday but still shaky. Is this the lupus and should I bother my doctor with it. I took my tablets as normal yesterday but wasn't very hungry so got slightly worse cramps as not taken them with much food. I'm worried about what it was. I also had a bad headache that lasted pretty much all week and did turn into a migraine at one point but it cleared up yesterday. I'd really appreciate any advise. Thank you x
Palpitations don't know what to do.: Im newly... - LUPUS UK
Palpitations don't know what to do.
Diagnosed with S.L.E sorry
That sounds to me like your suffering with Panic/anxiety. I get those feelings at least 4 times a week. I was diagnosed with panic/ anxiety 2 years after i was diagnosed with Lupus, some 20+ years ago now. I take diazepam and prozac and under a shrink, that kinda helps - i think.... If i was you i would go see your doctor. Whats the worst that can happen?
Good Luck x
Hi casey
i just read your blog panic attacks are very scary and do cause all the symptoms you have described, however its very important that you take notes or keep a diary of these symptoms so when you do go to docs you can tell them everything,im not on hydroxy because they caused me to feel so unwell and was advised to stop immediately it could be your medication which does not suit everybody.
also last week i also have been very heady with eye ache which has made normal daily life very difficult i think it was the sun as its been very bright and warm here my eyes ached so much that ive been walking around all week with dark sunglasses on (not good) and yes when i think about it ive been quite dizzy too or woozy especially in the sun.
try not to worry too much take care

You really should get it checked out at the drs and have an ecg as palpitations can have numerous causes a lot simple non.serious like panic attacks but lupus can cause all sorts of heart stuff and plapitations some of which can be very serious or life threatening. This is one to see you Dr about as soon as possible sorry to worry you but don't leave this one I know you feel like a nuisance but they won't think that. The heart can do funny thing with. Lupus palpitations and dizzy Ness nausea. I was in hospital with the same recently still under investigation but one one has told me that I did the wrong thing.
Hope you feel better soon. But please please go to the Dr.
Hi,
I think you should run this by your Doctor. I have SLE and also developed hyperthyroid ( Graves disease), the symptoms of this are very like panic attacks. My consultant told me that it is quite common to develop other autoimmune illnesses when you have lupus. It may well be panic attacks but I would get it checked out.
