Oh I read that bananas were good for people with lupus and strawberries. I even bought some bananas this week and have ordered a fruit and veg box with them in to start on a healthy eating diet. I'm confused now. Hope some knows the answer.

I have sle and I eat bananas and strawberries I dont seem to have any problems with them
Never in my 22 years of having Lupus, have I ever heard of this,
Ask your friend where she go this info from???
From my own experience and what I have read on the internet it seems that both Strawberries and Bananas are good for you if you have Lupus !!
I guess that each person is different, so what is good for some may be bad for others.
Never heard this one; you can be allergic to strawberries (my mum was) and they make my youngest son sick. If you've never had a problem then I wouldn't worry! So many myths around this disease xx
To my knowledge, it could be due to the fact that bananas and strawberries are high in potassium which in turn is not very good for your heart.
Thanks for everyone reply! I will keep researching
Strawberries Ease Inflammation
The health benefits of strawberries satisfy your sweet tooth while easing inflammation
By Mary Anne Dunkin
Not only are strawberries juicy and delicious, they also may lower blood levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a signal of inflammation in the body. High CRP levels are associated with an increased risk of heart disease and stroke, and levels often spike when people with rheumatoid arthritis or lupus have a flare, as well.
Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health studying the value of strawberries found that women who ate 16 or more strawberries per week were 14 percent less likely than non-strawberry eaters to have elevated levels of the protein. These health benefits of strawberries come from fruit that’s either fresh or frozen.
Although the study focused on heart disease, Howard Sesso, the study’s lead author, says that lowering CRP levels with strawberries may be helpful for arthritis, too. So go ahead – slice them on your cereal, add them to yogurt or enjoy them plain as a snack or dessert.

Yes strawberries and bananas are high in potassium but unless you have severe kidney failure and therefore your kidneys cannot deal with the potassium then they will do you no harm. More dangerous to be low in potassium.
Personally I have found that eating strawberries and some other red coloured foods seem to aggravate the SLE.
Ok thanks Laughitup
thanks Sue
Strange one! I have a banana every day with my breakfast cereal and i don't have any problems. True you have to cut them out if you have renal failure along with all other potassium rich foods but not because of SLE. Strawberries i have never heard of as a no no either and i eat those too.
Also remember that the brightest (non-organic) coloured fruits and veg (as well as those which are not naturally easily available in the UK/US nowadays) have been sprayed most with pesticides - not the best ingredient for anyone with sensitive immunity.
I have bananas and strawberries in a smoothie most mornings and don't think I have any adverse effects.
A banana not bananas lol
Umm...I guess your friend was talking...with regards to fruit categories and how they effect your digestive system when mixed... There are three type of fruits... Namely acidic ,sub acidic and sweet... I'll give you some links to further read about them... imraw.me/fruit-list-acid-su...

Hope it helps..., cheers!!!
I can't eat these along with a dozen other "healthy" foods, melons and nightshades are triggers for significant flares. Took years to find what triggered my histimine and then lupus flares. good luck. be a good detective!
God created all fruits and vegetables with full of nutrients, all naturals!!! no side effects.
I was told by my physician many years ago not to eat bananas because they were high in potassium. I don’t know if raises your blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure. I do stand to correction though. So I eat them once every now and again when I can’t resist.
