So my recovery from surgery was ticking along nicely..... I was gaining more mobility and finally getting out for some fresh air on a hired mobility scooter.
Rewind to Thurs afternoon when the twinges and an incling a uti was brewing started.
Contacted gp Friday morning and had antibiotics by dinnertime 👍
Saturday morning the vomiting started and after ringing NHS111 in the evening they sent me to A&E at midnight.
8 hrs later ...yes 8 hrs sat on a hard plastic chair with a boot on I was seen and taken to SDEC ( same day emergency care) to be told I was in retention.
So I'm now in my 2nd hospital bed in 6 wks (to the day) on iv antibiotics and fluids with a catheter. 😔 plan is for a kidney scan today.
And they've doubled my prednisone 😫
Is the severity of this uti a consequence of the meds changes needed for my surgery , taking the tacrolimus which comes with an increased risk of utis or my lupus nephritis? Who knows 🤷♀️
At least I have a view ......
Keep smiling ...I'm trying too 🙂

I am so pleased that you are finally comfortable and adequately medicated. You are where you need to be lovely after an horrendous weekend. I hope the kidney scan is ok and that on the increased pred and IV antibiotics you will soon be feeling so much better. Xxx
Ah. We all know the ‘joys’ of a chronic condition. How it can bring on other things. Sometimes a UTI can make you feel more ill than having an RA flare. I had a bad UTI at Christmas. Of all the days you want to feel ‘normal’. I’m awful when i’m not well. A real moany cow. That’s when i love to be alone. In my own bed. I always say this. With a big bowl of steaming hot soup, a hot cuppa & something funny on my tablet. Nice view from your hospital bed. When i was first diagnosed, so many yrs ago. I was taken in for tests. I was in nearly a week & a woman wouldn’t stop snoring. I was going mad. I know it was naughty. But i was throwing grapes at her!! I just couldn’t sleep! I hope you haven’t got a snorer. Hope you get well soon. When you get out. Spoil yourself. Get some nice creamy eclairs. They always cheer me up!
Thank you vixen. Oh no Christmas day of all days.Unfortunately hugo doesn't allow me much bed rest and I'm lactose intolerant so the delicious eclairs are out but I'm happy in the chair beside the fire with my crochet and a homemade brownie.
Haha I can just the domestic wondering why all the grapes are on the floor 😆.
Im the only one in my bay under 80 but all the ladies are lovely and will have a chat but I've been in wards with disruptive dementia patients so I get where you are coming from. X
