light sensitivity

I am struggling with the strip lighting in the workplace and wondered if anyone has any tips for minimising this? Would wearing tinted glasses help? The headaches it brings on are awful and it’s gradually getting worse. I did read that some people can struggle with this but I don’t want to ask them to change the lighting if there are other options that I can put in place myself.

Hi I struggled too especially if in a smaller office, my company offered me occupational health referral and I went to a special opticians got tinted green glasses, perfect. When my eyes get tired or I'm in a meeting or just on the computer I use them.

thank you that’s really helpful, I hadn’t heard of green tinting before but I will speak to the opticians about it and see if it’s something they can do to my glasses.

I used an opitican that deal with people with Dyslexia as not many high street optiicians do the test we need, apparently everyone different but having gone thru all the colours the greeny turquoise colour suited me best. I had my prescription made with the tinted glass and my company paid for them. If you've told them you have Lupus they should provide you with these as its a tool to do your job, Lupus does sit under the Disabilty bracket for this sort of thing Hope that helps

You can get occupational therapist referral who can sort getting green tinted glasses from your opticians. Also can ask light above desk to get shade put on if isn't one.

I react to them aswell blessu that's bad headache, I get in sun to hope eases soon

Hello 2 links to information from the charity Lupus UK might be helpful . The eclipse bit I believe a lot of the tips and information are provided by someone who has very extreme light sensitivity

The guides about employment can be really useful, and personally I think anyone with Lupus in employment it's worthwhile getting discussions about any "reasonable adjustments" that might help you.
