Hi all,
I am following a thread about light sensitivity in the SRUK (Scleroderma & Raynauds UK) forum with great interest and would like to learn more about it, hence, upon advice of another SRUK member I have joined your forum too. (scleroderma and lupus are sometimes linked).
I am a lighting designer by profession for 14 years now and have to admit that I haven't really come across the subject of light sensitivity before.
Our main concern within the industry seems to be all about circadian rhythms right now... hence boosting workplaces, especially the ones without daylight access, with even more light!
About 2 weeks ago when I went for one of my hospital check-up's, I found the department reception desk (no daylight access!) in almost darkness. Doing the lighting design for these kind of places and always having to make sure to achieve certain lighting levels to carry out the relevant tasks within a space I was surprised to find people working in this dim reception, so I ended up having a chat with them. Two of the female staff did complain about their migraines being triggered by the lights there.
And now those bits of light sensitivity information keep finding me and intruige me to look into further. So I ended up here.
Hopefully by understanding this subject better I could make some kind of contribution by bringing some more awareness into the world of lighting design professionals that design the lighting in your workplaces.
Would you be willing to help me by answering a few questions for me?
Edit:
I have put a questionnaire up onto Surveymonkey, the link to which is here:
If you could help me with my research about lighting sensitivity by answering the 9 questions, I would much appreciate it!
Thank you!
