Has anyone experienced difficulty securing travel insurance that was not the price of a brand new Mercedes? Okay, slight exaggeration but the cost works out double the holiday itself.
Astonishingly, a few years back, travel insurance for medical conditions used to be reasonably priced but now, since COVID, it seems that we're the ones that are keeping these companies afloat! (joking)
If you have experienced this, do you know of any insurance companies that are reasonably priced and professional?
Thanking you in advance
🙂

I am very interested in any replies - I'd imagined it would hike up the price but haven't looked in to it - but making the cost so much more than the holiday effectively stops people from being able to travel and rest and relax again. That is so cruel and money grabbing!
just bought an annual world wide multi trip policy from Staysure. £850. They were quoting £780 for a single trip.
My pre existing conditions aren’t covered because I’m still undergoing further tests.
I read a rather worrying article about a couple, both in cancer remission, who disclosed all their conditions to Saga and took out their travel insurance policy costing £720. The wife got Covid on holiday, is now sadly in a coma, and Saga won’t cover medical repatriation due to her pre existing medical conditions (She had lung cancer) That’s outrageous. What’s Covid got to do with those? The couple’s family is trying to crowd fund £30k for medical repatriation.
It’s got me rattled as Covid is exactly what I want to be fully covered for - us lot on immunosuppressants can fare a lot worse with it.
My GP gave me a private prescription for Paxlovid anti virals and for antibiotics to take with me just in case. Cost £11 and £12 respectively.
And I’m going to call Staysure on Monday to make sure I am fully covered for Covid irrespective. We’ll be in North America where medical costs are off the scale.
Gosh, thank you for your very informative comment. My goodness, Saga are brutal and if they couple disclosed ALL of their conditions, the insurance company should honour the COVID as well. Hope all goes well with adding Covid to your policy, and thanks, I will ask my GP about a private prescription, as Dengue fever plus Oropouche virus is doing its rounds, where I'm heading off to.
I’ve just booked with Saga, (over 50 though, don’t know what age you are). I was pleasantly surprised, I’m 70 and it was only £107 for an annual policy. £80 for a single.
Hi my travel insurance is through my bank account. It won't cover my RA unless I pay an additional £120. Not had any different treatment apart from my medication and occasional steroid injection so have not added additional cover for RA. I am covered for everything else though.
It depends where you are travelling? When I went to America (from the UK) it was expensive but when I travel to Europe I got a years policy with Admiral for about £63 which included me and my husband.
Ours is through our bank account with Barclays. I think it’s a bout £15 a month. We have a couple of foreign trips a year and my husband travels abroad twice a month with work, so it’s worth it for us.
After diagnosis I called to check I was covered and for no extra cost they cover my lupus and interstitial lung disease. (They also cover my husband for Chrohn’s). I also have antiphospholipid syndrome, which would cost extra I believe, but my rheumy said not to worry about that at the moment as I’ve never had any problems with blood clots.
I haven’t thought to check if they cover Covid at all.
