Pneumocystis pneumonia - PCP

I am just making people aware of the above. This is fungi that in a healthy person would resolve in days. However, in immunosuppressed it can be fatal. I have never heard of this before. Because of taking immune surpression, this fungi has knocked me off my feet. I have been admitted to hospital, now on my 8 day, I suffered hypoxi, stats going as low as 77. I have shadowing on both lungs was on 60 percent oxygen and after a barrage of steroids, IVs antibiotics, nebs, I am gradually getting better. At one point they were going to admit me to ICU, but decided to take some of daily meds off and try different antibiotics. I am still on oxygen therapy. The Dr here said that if on immune surpression medication, you should be given anti fungi meds to prevent this happening.

Just wanted to let you know, as I was ignorant to this.

Thank you, I had never been told, by my rheumatologist or GP about this. Thank you for your hugs. Could I inquire the name of the medication you take 3 x week? Xxx

My rheumy put me on them and my gp prescribes xx
