Lupus centre of excellence

Morning all, can anyone advise if they have been referred to a Lupus centre of excellence outside their area? If so was the referral done by GP?Many thanks

Hi.last year I went to the Kellgren centre in Manchester. My Rheumy referred me for a second opinion. Best wishes SML x

You can find a Lupus specialist yourself (l suspect a few on here, including admin, can advise you of hospitals where lupus is a specialism), and then write a letter to your GP, requesting you be seen at that particular clinic. I am not absolutely sure, but l think you have a right to choose where your specialist care takes place.

I did it and my GP was very helpful in that he wrote the referral letter for me. Saved me a job!

I travel on a 7 hour round journey to my Lupus Centre of excellence, mainly because I moved, but I can still carry on going there as I have done for over 31 years x

yes me and was referred by my GP to Bath, I live on Exmoor! I did have to request it.
