White fingers : Hi just wondering if any one else... - LUPUS UK
White fingers
I do in the cold. Isn't it Raynauds?
I'm not sure I was wondering if it's a symptom of lupus
I've also just bought some hand warmers as I can't go onto the medication for Raynaud's as I'm on beta blockers so it's contraindicated so my rheumatologist suggested hand warmers so I've bought some that I can put into my mittens for when I go on the school run. I also have some arthritis gloves that I wear round the house during the day and sometimes at night they are very good
Hi, yes, same problem it hasn’t been so bad as this year, it’s gradually starting to get more and more where the tips are going various colours and I’ve started wearing gloves around the house. Which helps.
It’s not enough a problem yet to go to the GP but I do already have a diagnosis of raynaulds. Do you have a diagnosis? If not might be worth getting it checked 🙂
No I've never seen about it
there’s many auto immune diseases that overlap. But you can have raynaulds on its own. It’s a problem with circulation not always getting around the body as it should. There’s a leaflet on the lupus. Org.uk website might be worth a look and mention it to gp/consultant next time you speak to them .
HiI also get this but it's Raynaulds. Just bought myself some lovely thermal gloves.
Sounds like Raynauds to me. My Nana had it and I have a friend with it also. I believe it is categorised as an auto immune, but I haven't checked Dr. Google. You could check back with family members to see if anyone else has anything of the sort, but I'm not sure how useful this will be. Today I have a brain of fog, so if this doesn't make any sense at all, you have my permission to ignore the above. The only thing I would say is that it is more than (old lady) "cold" hands! (My Nana's GP told her that). Yet my friend was part of a major London study specifically for Raynauds. Namaste peeps. 🙏
This could be Raynaud's. If you have an autoimmune disease such as RA, lupus or scleroderma, you are quite likely to develop secondary Raynaud's alongside it. This condition affects the circulation of blood to the extremities, and can result in toes and fingers not only turning white, but purple, blue and black, and can be painful, too. Primary Raynaud's, which I and other members of my family have, usually starts at an early age and is usually genetic. There are treatments available to improve blood flow, so discuss this with your GP if it becomes concerning. My fingers are now becoming purple and numb simply because I am touching my phone, which is cold!
sounds like Reynauds x
note my diagnosis is Adult Onset Stills Disease which for me manifests as rheumatoid disease. Yes I get white fingers especially if I get cold, regardless of ambient temperature , they stay white for about an hour, recovering after exposure to heat resulting in extremely painful tingling for about 20 minutes. It’s quite regular but appears harmless.
Hi. Yes I have Raynaud's. It's not uncommon in people with Lupus. It was diagnosed with it before getting an SLE diagnosis.
It's mostly my fingers but also in my toes.
Make sure to wear gloves in the colder weather.
Regards
Sue
yes - it's Raynaud's. Can be a symptom of lupus. Mine has improved, alot since being on hydroxychloroquine.
