Burning fingers

Hello, I am going through my menopause and was wondering whether it is normal to have burning fingers which turn bright red? Normally I get a hot flush after they start and they tend to burn more at night. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi SamRigs 🌿🌸🦋It could be neuropathy or fibromyalgia or a hormone imbalance. Discuss with GP. Write down everything about your episodes. Note date time duration sensations and aftermath.

Take temp blood pressure and ox pulse if possible. Note weather patterns stressors activities. Take pics on cell as proof to show GP at appointment.

Best wishes for answers you seek.

With me it’s burning feet ! As someone said, tell your Consultant, if you have one. Drink lots and lots of water - wear layered clothes. Good luck

Hi Cas70 🌿🌸🦋Has anyone ever told you about the possibility of erythromelalgia?

Burning 🔥 feet 🦶 and hands 🙌 are major symptoms

Neuropathy can cause this too. Worsens at night.

I have the worst form of both and so bad it feels like being boiled in hot oil at night and during big moisture weather events.

There is a website called The Erythromelalgia Association…TEA

I use Aspercreme with lidocaine or lidocaine on my feet for worst pain. To prevent it from full body flare I also take Paxil tabs too.

Best wishes for for pain relief.

Thank you so much for this. Honestly, no one but us understands how many areas of great discomfort we have. I have a new Rheumy who is a delight. He has diagnosed me with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis nothing to do with Lupus, which explains my leaden legs🙄 so I will talk to him about your information. I find that Deep Freeze spray or gel is marvellous for dulling the pain in my feet. Try some gel on your hands when you can sit for a few minutes and let it work. Olbas Oil works too, but smelly. Thanks again. Cas x

Hi SamRigs, I’ve had burning hands, and occasional burning feet/knees/elbows. They would turn bright red and radiate extreme heat. My doc suspected early menopause but it was never confirmed, as that would have required me to come off my oral contraceptive (over my dead body - endometriosis). Hydroxy took care of it for me, 400mg daily, but it took a few months to kick in. Good luck!

Thank you for your message xI am already on hydroxy and have mentioned it to my rheumatologist and doctor - both didn’t really seem concerned or say what they thought it was. It just drives me up the wall especially at night when I’m trying to sleep I’m forever feeling around for something cold to put my hands on or getting up and going to the bathroom to run them under the cold tap! I don’t know. Just hope it eventually goes away 😊
