Are they on your face? If so they might be milia which I think are what I have too.

I'll be interested to read responses as I have four newly arrived around my face just now and I hate them! I did finally get rid of one just under where my glasses sit, which lasted about 18 months - 2 years. It kept rubbing under my glasses so I read up and operated on it myself. It worked but I wouldn't do it again myself as it could cause infection or scarring.

Ps mine are above my lips, above my eyelid and next to my eye.

Hi, are these white spots slightly raised near eyes or cheek close to the nose. I was told they are cholesterol spots. Strange thing is I have my cholesterol under control so now makes me wonder is it a lupus thing.

Take care all,

Are they spots that look like a loss of pigment. I have these on my arms, can't see anywhere else. A picture would be good.

I have white spots on my arms and a couple on my legs. They are completely flat and feel like normal skin. They look like ones in the picture here consultant360.com/article/w... Doing my own digging I found they could be vitiligo. I also found lupus, and other autoimmune diseases can be a cause of vitiligo. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vit... I just wish all the pieces of my jigsaw could be put together so I could get a definite diagnosis.

I have vitiligo and white lumps on the skin that eventually come off and the skin bleeds. I mentioned to my doctor because of all the other symptoms that a lupus specialist at one of our talks said that people with lupus don't get rid of/dispose of their dead white cells easily and I wondered if they were coming out through the skin due to this, but he said could be as if no one really knows!

Ihave Pernicious Anemia and white spots on my arms. I have had them now for 20 years but they are not as noticable now. I did read somewhere what caused them and will try and find it again. No they are not itchy nor raised and are no problem.

Don't thinks it's lupus, per se. Lots of things can cause "white spots." Vitiligo, UV light destruction of melanocytes, etc. Some other autoimmune diseases may be involved. We lupies tend to have more than one autoimmune issues. You need to ask a dermatologist.

Perhaps it is worth mentioning them the next time you see your GP or consultant? It is always best to get any new symptoms checked over.

No - white spots on their own, in the absence of other symptoms, don't automatically mean lupus.

You need to add a picture of them so we can see better and make suggestions. As Paul says, mention to your GP, in case.

If they are transient - say when you get up they're present but then they go away, it's likely to be blood pooling (poor circulation).

I have also got these. I only started to get them when I stared to get poorly 5 years ago. Since then they have increased I have them on my arms legs and torso. I did some digging the other day and found this snippet on a web site, the first part is interesting to read, regarding autoimmune diseases, hope this helps.

Hormones play a major role in preventing or encouraging the development of white spots. In particular, the corticosteroid hormone is critical. Produced by the adrenal gland, deficiency of the hormone leads to autoimmune disease, which has a role in the occurrence of white spots. Certain medications have also been linked to the occurrence of white spots. Such include acne meds and both control pills. These have the capability to alter the skin tone, making it very sensitive to light. This has the effect of makin the skin uneven, encouraging development of white spots.
