Red watering eyes

Hi all,

I have been getting these strange eye symptoms maybe in the last six months. Every so often I will wake up with extremely red eyes bilaterally with increased tearing but the tears feel thicker or more mucus like. It looks like conjunctivitis but non infectious, the secretions are never yellow just thick clear. If I take a low dose of steroids like 10 - 20 mg it will usually go away within 24 hours. I cant really figure out what the trigger is. I do a good job with sun protection most of the time and I'm a radiologist fortunately so spend most of my day in a dark windowless room anyway. Im careful with my diet most of the time too. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this kind of symptom with their lupus or if I should be looking to other causes. I have been diagnosed with lupus 2.5 years ago, on hydroxychloroquine, ketotifen, synapsin and LDN. thanks!

Dry eyes can do this. You would think it would be the opposite but it’s like the glands go into overdrive. Do you have Sjogrens? I’d try something like Hylo forte eye drops and see if they help.

I suffer from blepharitis, could it be that?
