I keep getting sore eyes is this a typical symptom of Lupus? My eyes are often puffy and tired looking. I also seem to have a red face and patches on my skin tonight 🤷🏼♀️ Any advice/suggestions welcome 😊

Sore Eyes & Red Face
I get sore eyes with my lupus.sore eyes go with the dryness of a i illness.we are all so different, but I would think there’s a connection xx
Hi hope you’re ok otherwise. It sounds like you have dry eyes. It could also be Iritis where your iris, corneas ( the clear front part of your eye) has become inflamed.
If you can get to an optician they will be able to tell you. Most GP’s don’t know that much about eyes.
Hope it gets sorted for you. X
Dry eyes can definitely be a symptom of ai disease. Go and see a doc..maybe some blood tests.
Hi Hursty77
Are u on any medication? Hydroxychloroquine can cause sore eyes as well and we are advised to have eyes tested every year..if you are on hydroxy they check the health of your eyes. Also beware of UV rays from computer screens and mobile phones etc. When my eyes are dry I use artificial tears which are eye drops that u can but from most opticians or chemists. X
Take a look at Sjögren’s - one of the more classic dry eyes and a very close relative of Lupus.
Hi Hursty77,
Have you spoken to your rheumatologist or GP about this?
Around a third of lupus patients have some sort of eye-related matter such as ‘dry eyes’. We published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: The Mouth, Nose and Eyes’ which I hope will be of help to you: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
Skin involvement is common in lupus, with 60-70% of people with lupus reporting some skin problem. Rashes can occur when exposed to certain triggers such as UV light as well as other factors which are discussed in our ‘Lupus and the Skin’ guide; lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
Please keep us updated, wishing you all the best.
