Hiya I'm trying ascertain if a lupus butterfly rash has ever presented pink for anyone instead if the usual red? I had the correct pattern and it felt hot like sunburn but it wasn't sunburn & has gone now stayed a few hours. Strange things happening on 3rd day prior, Chest pressure morning & later most severe migraine ever and wiped out. The mid shin pitting edema has been around now & for last week again. Puritus has reared its ugly head again, no hives, yesterday & today. When this rash appeared I also spoke gobbledegook for about 5 words then another couple! & I went to put bag on a table that wasn't there! The sunlight reflected in the wall in a corner & somehow v strangely my brain interpreted that enlightened area as a table in front of the wall. I've had this a few times recently. It's like something wrong with spatial awareness. I saw someone climbing on rocks moving. But it was a sign when I later looked. I wasn't anxious.
Please does anyone know if a pink, hot rash can be the lupus butterfly rash over cheeks & nose , or are they always red? Could it be something other (it was Defo nit sunburn I worked it out not been in sun/mon & rash was Tue afternoon again no sun
Thankyou x

Here is some info... mine is more like rosy-cheeks, I look cute sometimes, like a blushing virgin LOL..... you know when you wear a red/salmon coloured blouse and it reflects on your face? Something like that.
The only problem is that it hurts and burns, and if I use a mirror I can see little cuts.
Mine varies. A vicious red at times ( that's when I take a selfie to show the rheumy) other times it can be more the blushing bride look. Or that I've used blusher in the dark.
That's really helpful Thankyou. Mine looked dark pik in certain light and cute like blush in other light. It hurt like v hot like burn. I didn't look close in mirror next time I will. Thankyou xxx
The malar (butterfly) rash can present different between individuals and can vary from a very mild blushing, to a raised, red rash.
Do you have a diagnosis of lupus or are you being investigated? It is worth taking photos of any visible symptoms like this to show your doctor in case it has faded when you next see them.

Hi Thankyou, I was actually at my specialist Dr Griffiths in Newcastle at the time! They thought I had polymyositis two high elevated cks indicating PM. but third Bloods all normal so she gave me the good news. Meaning it can't be PM as wouldn't now be normal well it was only 7 points over. She said no ANA never seen. She told me lupus rash is red not pink. So I trusted her judgement. I'm fairness I spoke dodgy and had other recent pains so she took Bloods but I'm not sure what she did might just been ck. It was one vile. Thankyou, I thought it could be pink but then considered I must be wrong. Thankyou xxx
