Is this another lupus flare ?

I’m a newbie, and am really happy to join this group. Thankyou.

I was diagnosed with lupus 12 years ago at a time of stress.

Last March I had surgery, and since then have had a severe itchy all over body rash.

I am now on my 5th steroid prescription.

I’d love some advice and support xx

Hello I'm afraid I can't help with the rash, but would urge you to contact your rheumatology team or GP.

Hopefully, someone else on here will be able to help though.

Good luck with getting it sorted! X

You really should tell your Lupus Dr about this- you don’t say what other drugs you take but it is obviously a reaction. Don’t leave it any longer. Taking steroids for too long won’t cure this, just helps you feel better.

It might be an allergic reaction. I have a reaction to codeine (including in co-codamol) that sounds like this - have you been taking a morphine based painkiller since surgery? Or changed other meds?

Many thanks Debbie. GP put me on antihistamines with the steroids, but neither seem to be helping

Probably best to ask your GP or rheumatologist. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your horrible rash! I used to get a range of rashes, mostly on hands and feet, but also arms and legs as well. Hydroxy sorted out 90% of the rashes (hallelujah!) and I used topical cream for the rest, called Anusol. It’s a haemorrhoid cream recommended by my dermatologist, and it works wonders! Not sure if you could use it all over your body though… 😁
