Pip review
Hi Loraine , it’s all very stressful filling in the pip form , LUPUS UK have got some wonderful zoom meetings that you can access that give such good advice , it really helped me last time I filled the forms out and I was actually awarded a higher rate. I did the forms over a few days as hurts when I write - sending hugs to you 🤗🤗🥰
I’m currently filling mine in online do you think it’s ok to type them rather than write?
Hi Lorraine. If you are struggling with pip forms these are the people to help you. They have a form filling or checking service and tons of advice for all benefits. Now they are a charity organisation and you can get the help needed but it will mean you need to join the vip section for a small subscription but soon as you are happy with the outcome you can cancel the subscription. They are very busy but loads of helpful people on their forum section as well.
Good luck.
No advice, just happy to see another Loraine with just 1 r. I always say that my mom spelled it with 1 r and I have been sorry ever since. Most times, even when copying my name from a driver's license, they automatically just write 1 r. I have had to have this corrected more times than I can count on forms that really have to be correct.
Hello Loraine14
Since you say you had to "update" your PIP application, I'm assuming you already get PIP? I had to renew my application recently and it certainly is a stressful process.
What helped was knowing they had approved my original application, so all I had to do was make it clear that my abilities/skills etc were at about the same level as they were first time round.
So for each section where things had not changed, I basically stated "No change since original application" and added the main point that was most relevant to the points system for that section. Eg "No change from original application [date] . Can only make a simple meal if someone is with me to watch meu or to help me 5 days out of 7. " Overall, that made it simpler to complete than the original applications. Where there were changes, I added them eg "I now use a mobility scooter for every trip out of the house, as I am no longer able to walk for more than 20 metres even with walking aids"
Remember that the points are awarded on the basis of your level of functioning *most days* One trap some people seem to fall into is thinking that if they have really bad days a couple of days a week, if they just say that, that will give them the points. It won't - they'll only get them the points if they can say they function that way *most days*
I also added the additional medication that I've been prescribed since the initial application.
I met their demand for details of medical appointments by asking my GP for a printout of all appointments and copies of specialist letters since the original award. There were 106 pages, and I send them most!!!! If they are that nosey, let them sort through that lot! Although the surgery said there is normally a charge for this, in the event they did not bill me.
My entitlement was renewed without any further bother
Hope that helps.
