Guess it could seem funny in this era. But it has been demonstrated that communication and coordination of care affects patient care majorly.
In the US the problem is when people change jobs, their health care plan changes. They end of with a whole new set of doctors. I would think it would be better in the UK. But the shortage of doctors puts a big strain the system too. They have no time to communicate. 😫
They may have to communicate even if indirectly. A surgeon will not do most procedures when a patient is on aspirin. But a doctor sort of needs to determine how long the patient can safely go without it. Weighing the risks is not easy.
I think twiggy was being sarcastic in that they don’t really communicate. The nhs has changed the patient access now in that if you gave permission any area of nhs can look at your records. Sounds great, but unfortunately I don’t think consultants have time to look through your records, especially if you have a big fat one full of letters and documents 😁
Exactly. No time. I know Tiggy’s sense of humor! She loves to come back with a funny comment.
I wonder what they actually focus on. They certainly can’t read a whole chart! Maybe the secret doctors’ notes?! It sure wouldn’t help to read the summaries I have access to. 😅
Dr Kay I am sorry for my lateness in my little head I’d replied !!!! 🦶 been diagnosed with erythromalgia which I think the forum friends had already diagnosed 😂.
Trying to be jolly as things could be worse but still feel like been run over by bus 🚌 most days . How are you feeling ? Xx
Oh, I am sorry. I know that erythromalagia is very painful. Not surprised the forum friends got that one! It is rare but not here. 😅
It is hard to be jolly when you feel rotten much of the time? Try not to compare. It is just rotten to feel like you’ve been run over by a bus. Yes, breathing our last breaths could be worse but it isn’t what matters. I went through cancer treatment - got so much sympathy - but at least in my particular case it was nothing compared to mild autoimmune disease. Our experience is our experience. No comparisons with others allowed.
I am feeling good in some ways, taking ADD medication for autonomic dysfunction and it is helping. Had either a bug or a reaction to booster and been low in other respects.
Take care of yourself. Treat yourself to a cappuccino to pick yourself up. And rest when you need to.
Dr Kay I do love your messages . They are always heartfelt and make so much sense . So sorry to hear about bug / reaction .. that’s the last thing you need . Feeling good in some ways is a good phrase I shall have to adopt ! Had steriod injection in shoulder yesterday so I am hoping that can be on my list of things that feel good .
I did go yellow tho with anesthetic. Poor husband does get alarmed 😳. I told him he should be used to my dramas by now😂.
Big hug and take care xx
Ps .. I’m going to put a post on about B12 later .. any input from the 👩⚕️ would be much appreciated
It might depend on what your having done and whether your having any general or local anestheitic. I remember having an appointment a few weeks prior op to go through meds and history. But if it’s causing you anxiety, phone/ email the consultants secretary to ask your question.
Good morning Littlemiss Did you manage to get any clarity about stopping meds pre op? Maybe if you do have to stop the beta blockers they could give you something else I’m sure ?
Oh, that’s tough. We think of surgeons as the ones who do the cutting. But they have to do so much more to make sure the surgery goes well. Sounds like you have a very careful surgeon.
There are many here who will sympathize with the steroid tapering. Make sure you keep in touch with your rheumatologist and note any changes.
Blimey ! Can you ask (I’m sure you have ) to go on the cancellation list ? I may be wrong but reducing 1mg every 8 weeks could be the tiniest bit easier than reducing over say a few weeks . Glad you’ve seen him.. another thing to tick off list . You take care xx
