The foot pain and swelling started on Monday. I posted about this and the Methylprednisole. My foot is a bit more swollen and now there is a rash on it. The excruciating pain on the bottom is a little better, but the pain is now to the ankle maybe because of the swelling. Any ideas about the rash? It is redder than in the photo. It just showed up this morning.
Healing hugs.

Hi Kay, I went on Tuesday. Xrays didn't show any break. The attending doctor did not even have me take my sock off. At that time, I didn't have the rash or whatever that it. I had something similar I am thinking about a year and a half ago. It eventually got better, but no reason why. Maybe it is lupus related. The doctor talked about the inflammation, but other than prescribing the Methylpred., didn't offer any other advise. I am trying not to walk so weird to spare it as it is already causing pain in my hip and back on the other side of my body.
Going to the dr. these days is confusing to say the least and frustrating.
Is it a lot more swollen? You didn’t have that rash when you went either. It makes sense he gave you a steroid boost. But it isn’t really working.
Have you ever had a clot?
Yes, hard to go to the doctor. But you don’t want to miss something potentially serious. Can you reach your rheumatologist by phone? Are you on medication for APS?
One rule of thumb is when things get better, that is good. Your foot is not getting better. I think a doctor needs to at least know that the steroids didn’t help.
I don’t want to frighten you. But since you are posting this, I can’t help but be worried and I understand why you would hesitate to go to the doctor under these circumstances. I took the liberty of sending your photo to a friend who is a retired cardiologist. He agrees you should go to A & E. He says it looks like something is going on. Not sure what that means but it is better to have things ruled out.
Thanks so much for your concern, Kay. Also, thank you for sending it. My husband is out of town, but will be back tomorrow so I will be able to get somewhere if it isn't better. Sometimes, it is just so hard to know what to do with our bodies always doing something.
Hi pumpkin, sorry your having a lot of painful probs with your feet. Looking at your pic, that rash looks like a vasculitis one as ive had similar. Thats inflamed blood vessels hence the doctor giving you prednisolone. Are you due a rheumy review?. Would be a good idea to try to get an appt with them. They're doing face to face a bit more as ive just had one.
My foot luckily is still pain free and im going into week 2. I can't believe it after a 2 year struggle. Just hope it doesnt end.
Hi Misty, When I went to the doctor, I didn't have the rash. I think you are right about vasculitis because it doesn't look as much like a rash as when it first appeared. I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday. I will show it to him. Maybe it will get better by then, who knows. It is separate from my other foot things. Thank you for your support.
I am so very happy that you are still pain free. Hope you are having a good weekend.
Good luck pumpkin for your gp appt on thursday. I do hope its helpful for you. I really do agree its vasculitis like because ive had similar rashes like that below my toes where you had yours.
You've been such a support to me pumpkin with my foot problem , its the least i can do as ive so appreciated it.
