I have lupus SLE, this mainly affects my joints and skin. it causes me tiredness and fatigue regularly. I am under the care of Rheumatology and I take a few medication including Mycophenolate (immunosuppressant), hydroxychloroquine and steroids.
I wasn't aware of PIP. I wanted to know I am eligible to apply for it and if so what is the process.

HiFor PIP you have to score points (8 - 12 points), there are descriptors (or catagories) for daily living and mobility. You have to show you can’t do one in each descriptor for more than 50% of the time (or the risk is there), safely repeatedly and reliably. Your symptoms may be because of your conditions or side effects of meds. It’s worth considering as the benefit is non means tested and doesn’t count as income. Get some advice by ringing CAB in your area and look up the criteria on the Disability Rights website. Good luck!
It does not matter what diagnosis you have, or what your income is; PIP awards are based solely on the practical limitations you have. The process of application is quite time-consuming, and intrusive - you have to detail your daily living activities and meet a certain level of disability to qualify. If you decide to make a claim, do make sure you follow the advice on the Disability Rights website. Good luck. x
