My Update on 2nd Covid Vaccine - the Oxford

As promised , here is my update on my second vaccine. I received my first on the 21st of January , with only a sore arm for about a week as a result. Fast forward 12 weeks, my rheumatologist reduced my hydroxy-chloro quinine down to one a day . Not sure if these are related but i went into a flare 3rd week in Feb. After a verbal fight with said Rheumy i received a steroid injection (120 of depo medrone) on 25th March. Started to feel a bit better so two weeks later i received my second vaccine on 7th April .

That evening i was very warm and spent a uncomfortable, sleepless night. I woke up on Thursday feeling like i had been hit by a train, a headache like a hangover ( cannot remember the last time i had one of them , i now dont drink alcohol) , every joint and muscle aching like flu.

My daughter who has no underlying health issues had a high temperature in the middle of the night 38 plus and also flu like. which also continued into the next day.

Today Friday i feel better but fatigued, but saying all this i would still have the vaccine rather than Covid.

Take care and Happy weekend. M x

Congratulations Maddy 🤗🙌 thank u for sharing your experience..it's good to know as many of us r now getting invited for our second doses!! I'm expecting to be invited soon n it will be the Oxford..will stock up on the paracetamol!!

As an aside..I found that reducing hydroxy caused a flare up..my dermy tried to reduce it from 400mgs to 200mgs n within a couple of weeks I was flaring. We decided to reduce it by 100mgs instead of 200mgs so I now take 300mgs per day..it's a bit complicated but it's working for me..although I'm on loads of other meds too!! I currently take 400mgs one day n 200mgs the next. Just thought I'd share that with u..it might be something that u want to fight with your rheumy about!! 😉

Take care..rest up..n I hope u feel back to 'normal' soon 🌈😽😽xx

I feel for you. It has been 7 weeks since my second Pfizer and I am still very very tired with no energy. I felt completely wiped out the first five weeks. Keep drinking liquid, eat well and rest. That is the most we can do and let our body to recover. Best wishes x

Thank you, sounds like good advice, tried to go for a walk today, felt like the wind has been knocked out of me, terrible, but hey better than covid. Baby steps I think, I have had a flare, a steroid injection and then 2nd covid jab in the space of 6 weeks, lupus at its finest working against Me hahaTake care

I had my second shot of Moderna last week and because I sometimes feel we never share the good stories about the vaccines I want people to know that other than each shot making my arm feel like I was punched by mike Tyson I had zero other symptoms. I helped my parents move, spread mulch and raked and mowed my half acre yard. Still no aches or pains the morning after even with a lot of extra work the day off.

Moderna is the mRNA like Pfizer but statistically reports ten percent higher side effects. I had a hypnosis session the day before my second jab where the therapist helped me envision a side effect free day following my shot. Guess it worked, lol
