I understand why you are asking. Best to ask your consultant. You don’t want non factual results from the blood test because of complications. Keep going ❤️❤️Hope this helps

Just based on my own experience; the first time my ANA showed up high positive was five years ago. Until then it had only been negative or equivocal. But then I was on steroids or immune-suppressed when previously tested. And I would never have made the connection between taking my Levothyroxine and ANA testing at all. Nor have I since.

My first positive ANA happened to show up after a private endocrinologist had reduced my Levothyroxine dose for a month or two. It was already too low for me and I was scraping the barrel with fatigue and stiff and achy joints.

Since then my Levo dose has been raised up high and my ANA is always positive - but at a low titre now. This could have just been pure coincidence of course and I wouldn’t think a day off Levothyroxine pre test would harm - but it probably wouldn’t make much difference to your ANA either I’m guessing. Nor would fasting.

Good question. Definitely should ask the doctor before you stop taking any medications. I have never heard of the need to stop a medication before the ANA, though thyroid disease can cause a positive ANA. Only the rheumatologist can decide whether your thyroid problems are also causing a positive ANA. Thyroid disease is often autoimmune too.

Exactly.. I have asked the Gp, who asked me to do the blood check and he said I should take medication
