I’m new to this forum, hoping for some answers, advice, reassurance.
Could someone explain, until I can get to speak to my GP which may well not be until next week what the following means in my recent blood test results ..

Hi, can you tell me what other things showed up in your bloods if anything. I’ve felt unwell for over a year, we’ve been down the Post Viral Fatigue route then Rheumatoid Arthritis and I’ve now been referred to the ME/CFS clinic who have requested further blood tests. Had those and there’s now all sorts of things are showing up like ANA positive, also low dsDNA binding autoantibody (or I think it’s low, I’m no doctor but either way it’s not in the normal range) and a few other things that are not right. I’ve requested a call from my doctor today but I’m not hopeful, it’ll be next week now. I’m obviously a little worried that it’s something serious but in some ways also a little relieved that at last there’s something on paper to say there is something wrong and it’s not all in my head x
It is always a worry whilst we wait. I use Labsonline. Used by the NHS app. It is an excellent site for describing why tests are done, normal reference range and what might be the cause of results being above or below those ranges. It doesn't replace an expert eye on our results but it can help us prepare for discussions. Hope that helps.
ANA stands for Anti Nuclear Antibodies and its usually a sign of Lupus because I'm have the same test and that's what they're looking for. It's an immune deficiency. The ANA attacks all our good Antibodies. Best thing is to relax because it will make it worse. I found out from biopsies and blood work. Drove myself crazy and it flared up. Good luck.
Welcome to the LUPUS UK Community Forum, I hope you are finding it useful so far, I can see you have already had some great responses!
I have attached a link to a page on our website, it is quite long, however if you scroll half way down the page there is a section about ANA test results and meanings of words/terms that may come up on the results. This may be useful to have a look at before your appointment.
I have also attached below links to some of our publications, I know you are waiting for your diagnosis, however you might still find these useful to look through.
