Hi. I have had blood tests recently as dr thinks possibility of autoimmune disease due to family history and CKD. When I look through my results I can’t see one for ANA - does this have another name? Thanks.
ANA blood test: Hi. I have had blood tests recently... - LUPUS UK
ANA blood test
Hello Redsong
Apparently it may also be called FANA (Fluorescent Antinuclear Antibody). It is usually reported as a ratio such as 1:160 , 1: 320, 1:640 and so on.
There are also separate ANA components, which might be listed as an ENA panel. They might include:
ds-DNA antibody
Anti-Ro/Anti SSA
Anti SSB
Anti-Sm
Anti-RNP
The combination of these results helps characterise the type of auto-immune activity you might have.
If you can't find an ANA result, nor any of these, my assumption would be that you haven't been tested for ANAs, although if a doctor suspects auto-immunity, that would be odd x
Thanks whisperit. I can see that I was normal for antibodies to sm, mito and lkm. Not sure I can see any others that look similar to what you’ve listed so a bit confused! I will ask dr next time I’m there. Thanks for your help.
Can you photo them and put them on here, then we can look for you.
These were the tests I had done and were all normal:
Antibodies to SM/MITO/LKM
Cardiolipin antibody
Anti-neut cytoplasm antib lev
Serum C reactive protein level
Anti-cyclic citrullinated PEP
Connective Tissue Disease SCRN
Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
I also had rheumatoid factor 10 iu/ml and anti-ccp antibody level 0.4 u/ml
I am a bit confused as can’t see test called ANA.
Thanks.
