I got a text from my GP yesterday to book for appointment for my vaccine. I then went and had my first dose today at 1050am. It is now 1230pm and my arm stings where the injection site. Arm feel relatively sore and I feel slightly nauseous and tired. I’ll post more on my post vaccination. I heard a lot of bad things about this Astrazeneca vaccine but I also heard it is better than other vaccines for lupus patients. We shall see.

HiI’m not sure if there is any evidence to support that one vaccine is better than another for Lupus patients but there maybe and I haven’t seen it? 🤔
I had the Pfizer vaccine yesterday and was told by my rheumatologist that either/or vaccine is suitable for me as an immunocompromised lupus patient. This was taken from guidelines that were given by British Rheumatology So far, I have had no side effects thankfully 👏
Thank you for the links above. I have read all the information with regard to the vaccine and lupus and found the information updated on 17.2. 21 by Paul Howard from Lupus uk also to be very informative.
Just to clarify, I haven’t read anywhere that one particular vaccine is preferable over another for lupus patients. If in doubt, advice should be sought from consultants.

Sue

Hi Iamnotmydiagnosis ,
Can I ask whether you have a source for your statement about the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine being "better" please? The JCVI does not advise a preference for either vaccine in any specific population so I believe that your statement is incorrect.
We must be careful not to spread misinformation. It is important to carefully consider anecdotal evidence. If you hear more complaints of side-effects about this vaccine, it doesn't necessarily mean it is more likely to cause them - we must remember that the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is being administered to more people because it is much easier to manage the logistics (due to not needing a freezer). This means we're likely to hear comparatively more reports of side-effects compared to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in this country.
