Loneliness

I’m not sure I can cope with this situation any longer, during covid ,lupus flared up , the appointments were only by phone just prescribed cortisone, I did put 10 kg on ( over 1 st) and I don’t feel any better , infacts worst . Finally I’ll see the specialist on Wednesday, hopefully he’ll take me off prednisone and put me on something else. I live on my own and feeling terrible , I had a ticket to go and see my mother in Italy but they’re stopping ppl from the uk going ( unless you have a test before going) or one over there plus quarantine when you’re back . I feel really restless, tired but can’t sleep , hard time . Any forums out there where you can chat about anything with ppl in similar situation , this site is brilliant for health etc , I was looking for some lighter forums ( gossips, current affairs etc) .

Thank you 😊

if you want to chat message me but don't be worried about talking on here about non medical stuff. we all do it as therapy. posting pictures, just chatting about random things. chicken photos from svfarmer this morning and there are regular pet pictures. anything goes :)

Hi I’m sorry your feeling so alone at this difficult time with the pandemic going on - this is a great forum where yes we do chat medical, lupus stuff but it’s more than that like suzannah16 has said , we chat about many things on here, I for instance had lock down puppies and posted pictures of them each week-we kept the girl called Mira and now post every Monday called Mira Monday , people seem to like it so will carry on till everyone gets fed up of her 😂 😂 best wishes xx

Hi, I don't often post but always read things when I can. I have a very busy life but it still doesn't stop me feeling lonely at times, and that is an awful feeling. I'm so sorry you're feeling this way and so sorry you didn't make it to Italy. Add in awful lupus flares to lockdown loneliness - lockdown seems to have really exacerbated them hasn't it - which are both painful and misunderstood by others, and it's a very tough place to be.

Like the others have said, this is a hugely friendly forum with posts on all sorts of stuff. Everyone is kind and understanding and I certainly feel safe and understood here.

I love taking photos and have really enjoyed Instagram- as much or as little interaction as you want (I don't always want to / can chat away for ages).

Big hugs xx

Our church in Texas has provided Zoom bible study to replace the one we used to attend in person. It has been a way to stay in touch and also make new friends. Praying for you to find a solution. Loneliness is awful ❤️🙏🏼❤️ .

Hi Melaxx,

I’m sorry to read you were unable to go to Italy to visit your mother and are feeling lonely.

Would you like to someone to speak to? If you would like someone to speak to, we can provide you with LUPUS UK contacts who you can chat with over the telephone. These contacts are volunteers who mostly have lupus themselves; they are not medically trained but are there to offer support and understanding. If you would like a contact to speak to, you can request details of your local Contact at lupusuk.org.uk/contacts/

Also, some of our Regional Groups have begun hosting virtual meetings which you can join. To find your nearest group and ask them if they are hosting any virtual meetings visit lupusuk.org.uk/regional-gro...

Best wishes,

Chanpreet
