I have just completed my first series of Rituximab for SLE. I had an allergic reaction during the first infusion but was ok after hydrocortisone and with a slower drip.
My second infusion was four days ago and it seemed to go ok but today I’m feeling not great - I feel like the glands in my throat are swollen and “full” around my eyes which is making me feel dizzy/headachy. Hard to describe but they seem connected.
Anyone else experience this? And are side effects in this time window typical?
Thank you!

You may have an infection as immune system has been lowered, you should contact your gp tell them you have medical alert card as on rituximab, and run it by him . In the meantime take plenty of warm drinks and paracetamol if you need it , also keep a check on you temperature. I hope you feel better soon 🌸
Shannon I had the same issue with my first infusion as well but with both infusions I felt flu like for several days and didn’t feel myself for about a week. Flush with chills and really sore everywhere. Painful muscles too.
I’m not sure if your particular symptoms are related but the time frame for experiencing them seemed to be about 5 days for me. I would reach out to your physician or team because it could just be coincidence and you have something else going on.
You’re welcome! Not yet but from what I’ve read and according to my Rheumatologist it may take two months or so.
What I think has helped was the steroid shot they gave me both times. It has helped significantly with my muscle pain so I appreciated that! I am very excited about the possibilities with this. I have so many different AI issues that it’s bound to help one of them at least 😁. I’m really hoping I will have energy again.
