Dreading tomorrow after a stressful couple of days

Hi all, just need to offload this evening.

I know how important it is for sufferers struggling with auto-immune conditions to get plenty of rest so after yesterday and today I really am dreading how I'm going to feel tomorrow. I'm fortunate that I work from home but, because I have an important meeting this coming week, I worked a full day yesterday instead of my usual 4 hours, looking forward to a relaxing day today. Unfortunately I had to call an ambulance last night at around 10.00 for my husband who has COPD and spent all last night and today until 5 pm in A&E while he had ECGs, numerous blood & blood pressure tests, then waited for results before bringing him home, all the while trying to be positive for him and assuring him I felt absolutely fine. (I lied) As he is always so supportive of me, I certainly don't begrudge being there for him when he needs me and I love him dearly but I have no idea how I got through the past 24 hours having had no sleep since getting up at 7am yesterday.

Thanks for listening to my moan, Liz :)

Thank you so much Lupiknits. Have to say though, he's very easy to love :)

As I expected, I feel totally drained today but will take things easy and relax. The ironing can wait xx

Hugs and time for you to rest up we’re you can. We are very good at being there for others and saying we are fine a life long habit. But eventually we stop doing it. It’s just the way it is for life long dxs. Am sure your hubby knowS you well enough and is truly appriciative of all your support as you are of his wishing he has a speedy recovery and that you feel better soon xx

Thank you again. He's my rock and is always there for me. I was at a lecture once where the speaker gave acronym for the word 'fine' that he said describes what people are really feeling when they say it. Basically the 'f' is for ' …………. up', 'i' is for 'insecure', 'n' is for 'neurotic' and 'e' for 'exhausted'. Kind of says it all don't you think xx

I have experience of being the spouse of a very ill husband and that of being the seriously ill patient. By far, the supporting spouse role is the most frightening, stressful and exhausting of the two. I would choose the patient role over the healthy spouse role every time. Please try to remember to put your oxygen mask on first! You can not give your husband what he needs if you do not take care of yourself first. I hold you both in my thoughts and hope you both feel better very soon. Xo

Thank you Kat. I just can't believe how supportive everyone is on this site. We're just about able to stay awake today despite a good night's sleep last night. Just chilling out today. Take care & thank you again, Liz xx

All my best to you Lizzie. You’re in my thoughts.
