Hi everyone. I think I saw something similar on here a while ago but I can't now find it.
Has anyone else experienced spontaneous eyelid bruising? I woke up like this today, a dark bruise in the inner corner of my left eye. It isn't sore or tender.
It's the second time this has happened. The first was some months ago, on the upper lid of my right eye.
I have lupus and sjogrens. Is this familiar to anyone who can explain it?
Thank you. Best wishes to all, especially those with much greater things to worry them!

Hi there. I have Sjogren’s with overlap CTD and hypothyrodism and have permanent bruising in corner of each eye which I think is related to fluid retention.
But with unexplained spontaneous bruising anywhere, particularly so near your eye and for a second time - it would be a good idea to see a GP and maybe get bloods done just to be on the safe side and rule out blood disorders etc.
Yes I get this both eyes intermittently and under eye occasionally. Sorry I am waiting for help myself so have no explanation for it but yes it’s familiar
It would be interesting to know if you find anything about cause.
Hi all. So, I called the GP. Totally patronising I'm sorry to report. She did comment that I'm taking Naproxen and that it can cause bruising??
So I decided to call the eye clinic at the hospital, with whom I am a regular patient. The Sister in charge was reassuring but wanted to check with one of doctors and called me back the same afternoon. After checking that I have no discomfort or changes in my vision, she said it was probably a small ruptured blood vessel, unrelated to either my diagnoses or medication and nothing to worry about.
I have to say, I remain unconvinced on the unrelated front but I suppose I just need to let it go.
