For The Storm and other crafty Lupies!

I’m posting this for the Storm as she is very unwell at present and said she enjoys seeing crafts and other talents on this forum. Hoping this cheers you up Storm.πŸ™πŸ»

I was given skeins of home-spun wool by a friend a couple of years ago and after using some of it in a cushion I made for her I had no idea what to do with the rest. It is beautiful wool but very coarse and the yarn alternates from being very thin to very thick so quite difficult to keep an article square. As the round cushion had been a great success, where I alternated rounds of this wool with a very fluffy one, I decided to try making a round pot and then a bowl. They worked out not too baldy so I made another bowl to give my friend.

When hubby and I were recently in the Lakes for our wedding anniversary I couldn’t resist a squeaky Herdy toy for another friend’s grandson due any moment now. He’s a cheeky wee sheep and had to check out the pot I crocheted. πŸ˜†

I’ve made another 2 smaller bowls since I took these photos and plan to fill them with cream eggs to give to friends at Easter. Unless anybody has another suggestion for their use?

Wishing the Storm well πŸ™πŸ» and best wishes to all reading this post. Hugs πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸ’•

O' Spotty, those are absolutely fantastic!!! What a very clever idea spun into your hands... Giving them for Easter is a lovely gesture.. You could use the larger ones for root vegetables and fruits from the farm or markets, they make a pleasant display. I bet, merchants would use them as store props to show there goods off. Rustic wares such as yours are very very popular right now. The medium sized ones you could drop a potted plant into them as cozy covers. I see so many wonderful ideas here with your talents Spotty. Cheeky Herdy, that's so precious, it makes your heart smile just saying it, kind of warm and fuzzy inside! Thank you all for the caring well wishes, photos, and special messages, because of you all, I am beautifully blessed in so many ways, thank you.... I will let you know how things go after Monday or so, and I will keep hovering here to read and see you all, Keep crafty and you all are photo perfect! much peace and healing blessings, thestorm:):)

So pleased the bowls and cheeky Herdy brought some warm fuzzy feelings to you thestorm πŸ₯° and what great ideas you have for the bowls!πŸ‘πŸ» The smaller ones I’ll give away with eggs in them but I’ll try fruit in the larger ones and a pot plant in the tub.

We’ll all be thinking of you on MondayπŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ» and look forward to hearing how you get on. Hugs πŸ€—πŸ˜˜

That really is beautiful yarn. I love how you used it for the bowl covers. I am busy doing needlepoint door hangers for my niece for next Christmas. She kept taking the ones I made for her children and putting them on the downstairs door. They would retrieve them and put them back on their bedroom doors. Guess the house need more door hangers πŸ˜….

Until your next creative project,

Xk

Glad you like them Kay. You must show us your door hangers - they sound beautiful. I bet needlepoint is a slow process but the results are fabulous. Do let us see them before you give them to your niece next Christmas.

Best wishes. πŸ€—πŸ˜˜ Spotty πŸ’•

Will do if I can post a photo. Have trouble posting articles from my iPad. 🧢 πŸ§΅πŸ˜€

Can you photograph the items using the camera on your iPad? Then lift it from your photo library when prompted when writing your post - where it says add a photo. That’s what I do with my iPad anyway. Give it a go. I’d love to see your work and I’m sure everyone else here would too. Good luck. Keep being crafty and keep well! πŸ§΅βœ‚οΈπŸ™πŸ»πŸ€—

These are beautiful, I know how hard it is to use special skeins of wool up. I can have some around forever before deciding what to make, I’m having that problem at the moment. I know how important crafting is in my life it helps to focus my mind away from my health problems, I can finish projects and have that feeling of attchevement . Most things I give away as presents. Keep up with it you have a wonderful talent, and hope your health improves. X

I totally agree with you Ncut that crafting helps to focus our minds away from our health problems, and yes the results do give us a sense of achievement too. I give mine away too and all those I made last summer went to the stall at Bannatynes raising awareness and funds for Lupus UK. So they have given me a further sense of achievement, and it was heart-warming that they all (except for the duck) went straight away! Poor lonely duck! I hope somebody puts in a donation for him before the stall closes.🀞

Lovely to hear from you Ncut and thanks for your kind wishes. I hope you too keep up your crafts and keep well.πŸ™πŸ» Let us know what you decide to do with the skeins of wool and better still show us! Take care. πŸ€—πŸ’•

What incredible things you have done with that very unusual yarn. I think you have brought out the best in it! So clever and so lovely to see them...thank you on a rainy Sunday morning, very best regards, Lily

Thanks Lily. It was difficult to know what to do with such unusual yarn, being so varied in thickness, but being so beautiful too. It would be impossible to wear being so coarse so that’s why I thought of a practical use for it. I’m so pleased you think it works and I’m glad that they brightened up your wet Sunday morning.πŸ‘πŸ» Thanks again Lily. Take care. πŸ€—πŸ˜˜
