Maybe lupus?

Hey,

So I’m new to this so not sure if I’m doing it right but...

I’ve been suffering now for 8 years what the doctors have been calling an ‘allergy’, I have random flare ups about 3 times a year but since July 2019 I’ve had 4 flare ups already, my face swells up, get a red butterfly rash over my face, mouth ulcers, hot flushes and aching all over my body. Only recently I’ve found out about lupus and it sounds similar to what I suffer with (I have Raynauds syndrome also). The doctors have always said it is an allergy and put me on antihistamines which have never helped, recently I had an episode before Christmas and got put on steroid tablets which cleared it up immediately. The doctors have now referred me for some blood tests to check for lupus...does this sound like lupus or something else?

Thanks🙂

Hi I have Lupus and RA and yes symptoms sound similar to mine but there are loads of different autoimmune disorders with similar symptoms, glad that you have been referred for blood work which may or may not tell you it’s Lupus - good luck and hopefully they will get you on some medication to help ease your symptoms xx

Thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate it.

It’s nice to hear from someone suffering a similar thing as all this time I’ve been so in the dark with it, thinking it’s just me. Hopefully the blood works show something so I can finally diagnose this and get the right help.

Hope you feel well too and wish you all the best with your health and well being❤️

Lupus is so complicated, the initial blood results. I had were inconclusive.the medics weren’t

happy ,quickly referred me to rheumatoid/ ILD consultant( lungs.

) in December.

They said they had more blood tests available,so more bloods taken.

In February, saw them again more bloods!!

In April they told me I had Lupus.

Is your Dr going to refer you to a rheumatologist? I feel you need rheumatologist input.

I had allergy problems for years.antihistamines didn’t help.

Symptoms were treated on a symptom by symptom basis.i just thought it wasn’t age.

So lupus diagnosis was a relief that I hadn’t lost my marbles !,

I’m now on my second lot of Immunosuppressants,Azatropine affected my liver.

I hop you get some help soon
