I'm just finishing off an article about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Scheme for the LUPUS UK website and magazine. If you don't yet know about it, please feel free to take a look here - hiddendisabilitiesstore.com/
I'd like to include a couple of testimonials from people with lupus who have used the lanyards if possible. If you've worn a sunflower lanyard while travelling, in a supermarket or another business and would be happy sharing your experiences, please do so in the comments below or email me at paul@lupusuk.org.uk
Any testimonials can be kept anonymous.

Got mine from Sainsbury’s, really easy as you just ask they give. Staff are fab and will always help. Haven’t tried outside of Sainsbury’s yet. It’s distinctive so that helps
I picked one up when I was in Argos which I am keeping in the car for when I need it. However, they did say they can see I have a disability as I use a stick. What they don't realise is there is so much more! I think it is an excellent idea. I haven't worn it as yet.
I recently had a lanyard from Sainsbury's ... really easy to get just ask at Customer services, you don't need to give any details and it's free.
I tend to use the Sainsbury's "Scan and go". system so usually not needing the lanyard much, as the scan and go itself is excellent when you have disabilities...
With scan and go I'm only putting things into my trolley once , straight into bags as you scan and easy to then just go through the check outs ( it's designated scan and go ones, and so far usually no que) and then easy to just load already packed bags into your vehicle. I have been stopped once for scan and go "routine spot check" and then showed my lanyard and the staff were extra helpful doing the routine check.
Once you have a sunflower lanyard you keep it for any use in any shops.
I've also used mine when doing an in town shop. In stores with very little space at the checkout such as "Savers" and "Superdrug" I pass over my bags and ask would you mind putting the shopping in my bags as you scan .... so far everyone been very happy to do so , they can see my lanyard which may contribute to how helpful they are. It really makes the checkout much easier for me. Plus the big smiles I get and the response "it's no problem/ glad to help" from staff when I'm leaving and say "Thank you that was appreciated", I think shows that shop staff do feel good in aiding you, and they like to help you. I'd definitely recommend get a sunflower lanyard
