Genital sores

I’m new to this! I have developed ulcers down below. It’s so painful. My GP prescribed a steroid cream. How long do they last? I’m on day 3. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Welcome. Im throwing out a guess here since I don’t know much about you and there’s a lot of details missing. This could be bacteria in your urine so when that clears up so will they. Our skin takes longer to heal. For me it’s yeast. Steroids don’t help it. I use over the counter yeast products and diet to cut back on yeast. I get ulcers in my mouth and in those dark recesses. Sometimes I get them in my armpits if my diet is wrong and I can’t keep the area dry. Vagisil to the rescue. They last 3-7 days for me. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for your help. I thought initially that it was a yeast infection but the usual oral tablet & cream did nothing to help. It’s now developed into ulcer type sores which are mostly on my vaginal lips.

I get them as well although not often as long as I watch how much yeast I eat/drink. The membranes are the same as in your mouth. I will also take an epsom salt bath but make sure your skin can handle it first.

Hi,

Genital ulcers can be associated with Behcets Disease, one of the Vasculitis variants. As you are recently diagnosed with SLE I would let your Rheumatologist know as Behcets can present with lupus type symptoms.

I agree with Tynemouth, it could be behcets as that presents with genital ulcers. Please speak to your rheumatologist about this.
