Dryness

What type of lotion do you find works best for dry skin? For my scalp I only shampoo twice weekly and use a castor oil shampoo. No blow drying. (I’m 55 so I’m drying anyway.) I was doing well with cetaphil but that’s not helping anymore. Any good ideas. I, probably like most of you, cant have lots of fragrances. Thanks in advance for your tips.

I hope everyone has a lovely day.

Hi, I have Xerotic skin (very dry) everywhere and I'm seeing a dermatologist every 3 months with other problems as well.

I've been told that moisturisers are no good for very dry skin so at the moment I'm using QV cream and gentle wash plus Cetraben ointment for the extra dry places. I have been using them twice a day but at the last appointment 2 weeks ago was told to use it 3 times daily. Must admit that surprised me as my skin has improved greatly.

If you don't have a dermatologist ask your GP as you can get them on prescription.

Oh another thing is not to have the water hot for baths/showers as that can also give you problems with the skin.

Hope you find what works for you soon.

Thank you. I have an appointment next week. I’m so glad that worked for you. I’ll ask about it!

They may prescribe you a goody bag of samples to see which one you get on with the best. Mine did it saves time faffing about going back and forth for different types.

Good luck with your appointment.

Hey there - Eucerin... I use the 10% Urea body lotion and their face creams. Took me years to find this brand and its a fantastic range. I get the body lotion on prescription now as its quite expensive (approx £14). eucerin.co.uk/products/urea... If I didn;t use it every day I would have flaking very uncomfortable skin all over - and cracked heels. Hope it works for you if you give it a try. D
