I’m trying to find some nice UV protective clothing but am very fussy! I can’t bear being hot and find synthetic materials so clingy and uncomfortable but the majority of UV clothing is nylon and really not the sort of clothing I’d choose to wear. I’ve been doing quite a bit of research and have found that bamboo clothing gives factor 50 protection (125mg plus) is natural, cool, sustainable and look nice - sounds too good to be true! (ok a little more pricey than normal clothing). Just wondering if anyone has used bamboo clothing and would recommend it for sun protection?
Thank you! X

I bought bamboo socks from one of the well known UK walking shops and they drove me mad. Agreed they were lovely, soft and comfortable until they were washed a few times then they kept slipping down and crumpling up under my heels, very annoying when dog walking!
Hi Yellow5, I cannot vouch for sun protection but BAM clothing bambooclothing.co.uk is an award winning, eco friendly Plymouth based firm. Currently everything 10% off with the code BANK10 I believe. I find their pieces generously long and supersoft and breathable - so important for lupies! Indeed, given how important these factors are for comfortable clothing for those with lupus and those in pain I often recommend this firm. With very best regards, Lily
Thank you all. I have ordered some bits from Solbari and BAM so looking forward to them arriving. It was on the BAM site that said the clothes were UV 50 and interestingly I’ve since seen that the wrap I’ve bought from Solbari is also cotton/bamboo viscose which is the composition of some of the BAM products.
likewise.I recently bought bamboo socks from boots on special offer. Great!
Hi yellow,
My wife and I look at sport clothing companies such as musto, they have a range of UV factor 50 clothing which lasts well, their range this year is smaller than before but worth a look. Also consider another company called cooliba, from Australia. The Australian and new Zealanders seem to be set up well for UV proof clothing.
