Hi, I am currently under a lot of pressure from workload and I was wondering if there are good ways to cope with it as I often don't feel up to it.

btw- This is work from School rather than a job. Sorry didn't specify before

It is a tuff one, balancing work & diseases, family & friends..... I did burn out last year & ended taking 5 months off & I was not pacing myself.

In the end I had a graduated return to work & my maximum hours this year is 33 hours which gives me time to rest in the morning & go to appointment I need.

Good luck ML

I’ve managed to work full time and I’m now 45. I have made sacrifices in order to keep working.

I have no kids and work from home. I do drive for work some days and know this is tiring so have the slow cooker on sonwjen I walk in the door, it’s tea, bath, bed!

Always pace.. look after yourself ask for help if you can. Speak to your boss? We are covered under the law.

Hope you manage x

I know how you feel I work 36 hrs a week, finding it hard I have SLE, fibromyalgia and Vasculitis, had enough by Thursday but can’t afford to cut my hours. I find now if I get stressed my right hand shakes badly and my back goes into spasm lasting for days. Thanks to to this government I have to work 6 years longer. Only 5 years 8 months to go. 😂😂😂😂😂

Has your employer offered an assessment to make reasonable adjustments? They are required to do that by law.

Hi redredblue ,

Have you spoken with your employer/manager about this? Are they aware that you have lupus? Perhaps they can make some adjustments to help you manage better, or they can get you some additional assistance? We have a couple of booklets about lupus and employment which you might find helpful. You can read and download them at lupusuk.org.uk/working-with... or I can post you physical copies if you send me a private message or email paul@lupusuk.org.uk with your name and address.

Hi

I reduced my hours from 36 hours to 30 hours and I have chosen to not work on Wednesdays - this means I never work more than two days without a day off, this really works for me. By the time you take into account difference in tax and NI contributions and cost of going to work, the difference in pay is not too much. My employers are supportive but my biggest enemy was myself, still trying to do everything for everybody but I have finally learned to say no and started caring for me first - hope this is helpful

I’m sure if you spoke to the school they can too implement coping strategies for you. You May even be allowed extra time in some of your exams. X
