Tooth Extraction while platelets are low??

Before I was diagnosed i was meant to get my wisdom tooth taken out. Now my platelet count is 12 and they told me that it was still find to get my tooth taken out, they said they would suture it as well?

Has anyone had a procedure like this with low platelets? Would you advise that I should or should not get this done at time?

I've never seen a platelet count as a figure like that - normal usually starts at 150,000. What does it say on your report? Who says it is fine? The dentist or a doctor?

So they always refer to my platelet as just a number but really it’s 12 million but yeah they said normal is supposed to 150 million. My platelet count is not normal, my lupus caused ITP which is the damage of my platelets but the person who set up my appointment talked to a consultant who apparently talked to my doctors and they said it’s fine they just have to suture the incision rather than just stitch it

Um - sutures are stitches... However - as long as the right person spoke to the right person they should have got it right! Good luck!

Yes - I realise why it is so low.

That’s what i thought but he said i was getting sutures instead of stitches? I think i need to talk to my doctors face to face and ask them or maybe i misheard. Thanks!

I should double check with your GP before you commit to any extractions. I recently had a tooth out & began to feel unwell immediately afterwards & ended up in hospital for 4 days. Better to 've safe than sorry !
