Does anyone have chronic laryngitis? I get it fairly regularly, and recently discovered it can be an inflammation issue.
It starts with pain in the front of my neck, followed by a ‘flu’ feeling - shivers, fever, swollen/painful glands in my neck and general sore throat, followed by a hoarse voice. This can last days or even weeks sometimes. It’s helped by drinking warm water, putting a hot wheatie on my neck and ibuprofen. It happens every few weeks. It always goes away when I take steroids.
I’m only on hydroxy 400mg daily and paracetamol/ibuprofen when necessary for joint pain and migraine.
I’d be interested to hear from anyone else who gets this too 💐

I have tried chewing slivers of raw garlic helpful in these situations. Its said to chew a clove but i find that a bit too hot.
Garlic is a natural antibiotic so possibly that's why it works. When I don't feel like chewing garlic a hot toddy made with chopped ginger chopped garlic and honey seems to work if you also chew the remainder garlic and ginger. Its a bit milder at that stage.
I get this - particularly in the winter months - voice always weak but coming and going along with a really annoying sticky cough and thick salty saliva. I’m not sure ether it related to Sjögren’s dryness or neuro Sjögren’s with me.
I have yet to be diagnosed....but I do have the same issues. Mine starts with a hot sensation that goes from my next to my ears. I then start to lose my voice shortly after. I also feel very lethargic and fluish... I also get the butterfly rash, joint pain, dry eyes etc..
Hi Nurseladybird, I have SLE and chronic hoarseness. I have been scoped twice. The EMT MD said he was sure I would have a vocal cord nodule but nothing was found. Your larynx does have a joint in it so can become inflamed like any other joint is my rationale for this issue. Take care, Nan
I think I’m getting a form of this, but it seems to be related to my very dry mouth. More than ten minutes on the phone and I start to sound like a frog. I have an MRI of the glands related to Sjögrens next week.
I have had this on and off for this past 2 months... almost exactly the same symptoms as you have said. I haven't been to doctors with it as my GP not the best. I'm also on 400 hydroxy daily
