I went for my first mammogram last Thursday. I’ve been recalled Togo to hospital tomorrow!! I’m obviously concerned. I have lupus, with lung complications, mixed connective tissue disease. Does anyone know if this puts me/us at higher risk of breast cancer? Xx

Hi thanks. I was called for mammogram as a research study re younger women - I’m 48. Had no concerns re boobs. So they don’t know my illnesses xx
Sorry I can’t help you with your question although I think PMRpro has given some good pointers. I believe they often recall people for something which does usually not turn out to be a problem. Hopefully this will be the case for you as I’ve had quite a few friends get recalled but not turn out to have anything wrong. Please try not to worry unduly.
I30 minutes ago I had my second routine mammogram age 55. The first was in a mobile screening unit in another area of Scotland.
I just wonder if they recalled you by phone or letter or told you then and there that they needed you back again? I was so relieved to get it over with painlessly that I rushed out and never asked if all was fine.
🤞🏽 🤞🏽all will prove to be fine for you on second viewing. xx
Thanks for giving me an idea of the time frame. I didn’t explain to them that I have Sjögren’s but they had to get me seated as I have problems standing and get dizzy. They just assumed it was my sciatica. But my GP is also one of the breast clinic doctors so I feel in quite safe hands even with a recall. Better to be diagnosed ASAP. Also if you’re part of a research programme then perhaps this is making them extra vigilant?
I wonder if the machines in the mobile units are as sophisticated as the ones used in hospital outpatient screening clinics like the one I had today?
Certainly where I lived previously, an island, many friends were recalled and only two that I can recall had BC and are both in full remission now. I read that only 1 in 4 recalls are diagnosed with BC. Xx
Hi , just to give you a bit of reassurance. I had a mammogram a few years ago and they phoned me the next day to go in so obviously I was in a complete panic. Turned out all was ok I just have lots of tissue. I have UCTD with features of lupus, scleroderma and polymyositis. It's good that they are being really thorough and I hope everything will be ok for you as well x
96% of call backs are due to shadowing from the angle in which the shots were taken. I am 50 live in the US have had three thus far and never have been called back. I am lucky to have those pliable breast were I would feel something right away, but also have the connective tissue disease. So no worries 😉 you will conquer this like a champ ❣️❣️
