Hi fellow warriors, I’m planned to have a total abdominal hysterectomy tomorrow & I was already feeling anxious etc but now tonight I’ve discovered the biggest horrible boil on the top of my inner thigh. Thanks to Lupus I do often suffer with boils on my thighs but why now???? It’s going to be so embarrassing tomorrow when the surgeon see’s it. I’m really starting to stress about it, got all sorts running through my head!!! I know this sounds stupid but the boil won’t stop my procedure going ahead??? Thanks for listening fellow warriors xx 😘
Surgery Tomorrow : Hi fellow warriors, I’m planned... - LUPUS UK
Surgery Tomorrow
Best of luck with the surgery and don’t be embarrassed. The only thing that matters is that you come through the surgery safely and feel better. Best to you!
Hi tweetyburd 😊🌸🌿🦋
Try not to be anxious dear about your surgery. I had the same thing at age 46. I survived it and you will too. If the risk was too high for you the surgery wouldn’t be done without informing you preop.

About the boil...put a bandage over it. Be sure to inform the nurses about it as soon as you are in the prep room. They will inform the surgeon. Covering it up will help protect it, and give you some embarrassment relief too.

Best wishes and 🙏s for a full and quick recovery dear😊.

Sending hugs xxxx
Good luck with your operation. Please let us know how it goes. And don’t worry about the boil - surgeons see much worse, I’m sure! Very best wishes. Wendy
I totally understand...I had surgery with lupus eruptions and I too was so embarrassed..all I can say is my best for your surgery....Surgeons see so much icky(to us ) stuff....I have one on the back of my neck as I write this..and on my behind........I did for my last surgery also and I know I was flipped around like a rag-doll on the table...I have to believe that the Drs are paying more attention to the procedure Xx
Hope all went well for you..dont worry you will be fine..i had the op two years ago..you may struggle getting up from lying position for two weeks or so however..it does soon get better..you might experience wind although initially embarrassing..i found peppermint tea helped no end..if you suffer constipation i found the liquid solution more gentle on the stomach..try not to worry..hope you have some suport too..take your time to recover..you will be ok..i have an autoimmune condition and hughes..cant believe it was 2 years ago..sending you very best wishes for a gentle recovery...
Aww thanks for your reply tjo52 💜 I came home yesterday, not feeling too bad, ur defo right... getting out of bed is the worst 🙈 wind pain wasn’t that bad, did take a couple of peppermint tea capsules on Sat/Sun but things sorted themselves out ok!!! As for the boil on my thigh, no one even noticed!! I did tell the admissions nurse, who was lovely & she just made a note in my file. I’m resting up in bed but moving around as much as I can etc xx
