Hi all

Just wondered if anyone else in remission for Lupus has managed to get covered for life insurance?

I have tried the usual routes and cannot get cover as I still go to the hospital once every 3 months and still take blood pressure medication.

Just wondered if anyone knows of a good company that covers existing conditions?

thanks!

I've had the same problem heights. One of the questions they ask is are you having any further tests or hospital appointments. They then tell you to come back once you know the results as they don't insure while under investigation. This is madness as us with autoimmune diseases have regular blood tests, perhaps xray or ct scans, maybe a referral to another specialist such as gastroparesis or renal etc. This is pretty standard for us but the insurance companies won't have it. Even with a diagnosis I can't get insurance as I still have various tests for things so this makes me uninsurable. Something really needs to be done about this as it can have a knock on effect on all sorts of things.

Hi, if you are over 50, contact British Seniors as they don't ask medical questions and you get paid back your agreed premium or whatever you've paid in......whichever is greatest

It is so unfair that an individual can drop dead for many underlying reasons. Autopsies show any number of conditions from heart, lung, kidney to cancers and other catastrophic diseases and beneficiaries receive full coverage. We are penalized for providing known diagnosis and most are denied up front. Try Gerber if it is offered in your area, but there is a two year waiting period. No coverage will be provided if you should did within the two year waiting period. This is a stiff penalty, but beats having nothing.

I got life cover for a mortgage 25 years ago but the terms were ‘loaded’ because of lupus and it was within a short space of diagnosis. The company no longer exists as it’s been taken over by other companies over the years. I also have travel insurance which covers lupus for a premium although the loading on this has reduced over the years. Keep looking as I think you’ll find cover although sadly it’s going to cost a lot more
