Hello everyone,Please I live an advise of getting a life insurance. I have tried a few times since I was 33 and now am 37. They normally say in their adverts that you should not worry if you have a health condition. Then when I call them on the phone and mention I have lupus, they say "we will call you back tomorrow, it says we need to refer your case to the under-writters🤔. I have tried polly, post-office and finally Smart. It all boils down to the same thing.
When this happens I laugh and say to myself " if they are bothered about me dying soon, they maybe shocked that I might just live longer than them, even with my struggles😂😂😂.
I will really love any advice on an insurance provider that will accept my humble self😂😂.
Thanks xx

Same, tried several times to get insurance and have been refused. I was told due to Lupus I cannot get life insurance. I was told to contact people who dealt with insurance for people with existing illnesses but as soon as I mentioned Lupus the underwriters refused. So up to now I don't have life insurance but just funeral insurance.
I know I'm not of much help, but just wanted to let you know about my situation.
I had mine for years before diagnosis and I can keep it going with Scottish Widows. Maybe a word of advice for anyone still undiagnosed, get life insurance before diagnosis if you can it seems. I lost my Bupa though as they don't cover chronic illness or anything that may be connected with it. As it seems like you can link any other illness to lupus, I canceled it as I thought they would just try and wriggle out of paying by linking the issue to Lupus/Sjogrens.
Hi i managed to get life insurance through legal & general, obviously they contact your GP for a report, i suppose maybe it depends on level of symptoms, I'm not on any meds only for Raynauds, my lupus is mild at the moment and has been for years, usual symptoms like everyone else, fatigue, joint pain, sun sensitivity, but manageable at this time. Hope you get sorted 😀
I tried to get Term Assurance through my financial advisor about 6 years ago. Bizarrely when he spoke to Royal London and went through the conditions I was diagnosed with they told him off the record that I should set it up directly online. I did exactly that, answered all the health questions honestly and cover was £20 a month cheaper than through the broker with a requirement to refer to the underwriter. At that point I was on limited meds, low level and no unplanned hospital visits etc which would have helped. Might be worth having a look at the online process rather than talking to them. Good luck
It's interesting how the process can differ depending on how you apply for insurance. It sounds like going through the online process directly with Royal London worked out well for you, especially with the cheaper premium. Considering your positive experience, checking out websites like purecover.co.uk/ might be a convenient option for others looking to secure insurance.
