life insurance
Hi monster jay
My experience of trying to get life insurance a few years ago was that the decision was down to the type of drug I was taking and not the condition.
They refused me because of immuno-suppressives!.
Good luck with your application!.
I also got refused. Got a no from 2 different companies, but good luck x
I had no problems at all. I told them up front that I had cutaneous lupus, they asked about symptoms and treatment. The company is called Bright Grey.
I'm in the states & did find one where I would have had to pay a large amt every month for something like 5,000 worth of life ins. Colonial Penn. Otherwise, no way, have tried several times w/ all different companies. If you've been on an immunosuppressant and/ or hospitalized, the answer is no. My ins agent told me to give up trying.
However, my job I started a couple years ago will cover me, as long as I stay employed w/ this company. Which will probably wear my body down faster than lupus will. So there's that.
It depends on the insurance company. Most do not cover for pre-existing conditions.
I have been turned down for life insurance and funeral cover just because of the discoid lupus and various other conditions (none of which are life threatening) . When I have discussed this with the insurance under writer they have told me I am high risk! Goodness knows what that is meant to mean, then they tell me they can not comment on individual cases........Rather frustrating as at 46 years old I would like to have something in place should anything happen to me.
If you do find some one who does insure please let me know as I can give them a try!
Good luck x
I have been knocked back by a few so I thought I would go through an agent to search for one for me. Best I could find was a company that would insure me but not pay for first five years!! And really expensive. Annoyingly though I still get telemarketers trying to sell me insurance all the time even though their company has knocked me back hahaha
thank you for the reply, i am now looking and investiagting to see if a company will be able to offer me life insurance............
thank you to everyone who has posted a reply to my question, and i thought it was just me, guess not, but now we are looking into companies that are linked to lupus that could offer some form of life insurance and i am now looking for travel insurance for my family holiday, i have been told that there is a company that can offer some life insurance but i think it will be down to the past and present medication too........once i know or have found a company i will post it here and hopefully it will help others in the same situation as me............................
I'd suggest you go through a financial advisor who can find the best companies who will cover you based on your medical conditions and treatment.
Different companies use different guidelines and advisers will look into this to get the best rates for you.
Most companies in the UKwill provide life insurance and cover pre existing conditions. They may charge more money depending on what conditions you have.
In general if you only have discoid lupus rather than SLE your terms will be more favourable.
I hope this helps.
