So it’s 4.45 am in the uk here. I have slept for max 3 hours. This is becoming a normal pattern and it’s exhausting me. I am so tired the next day but this doesn’t help me to sleep during the night.
I don’t know what to do I haven had a good full nights sleep since November. I’m not in pain at night I’m so restless it gets me up.
I start work in two weeks so really need to get into a routine of sleeping.
Any suggestions for a good nights sleep please.
Thank you

I’ve had the same for 9 months now and haven’t found anything that works I’m afraid except for sleeping pills. Zopiclone I think they’re called. I try and only take once or twice a week but it’s so nice to have a proper nights sleep on them. The GP is very loathe to prescribe more because they are addictive but I think a good nights sleep is very important to help us recover.
Are you in a flare at the moment? Or taking meds that might be making sleeping harder? I’ve come down from 40mg steroids and on 15mg currently and sleeping a bit better but steroids do make it hard to sleep. Think lupus itself also causes insomnia too.
Someone else here recommended Holy Basil (it helps with the regulation of your adrenals). I just drink a couple of cups of Tulsi Tea (holy basil tea) and it does seem to have helped a bit.
Hi I had the same problem I went to see my GPand she gave amitriptyline I take 10mg about 7pm and it has helped at least now I get some restful sleep I know some people take a higher dose but 10mg seems to do the job for me hope you get sorted out its awful not being able to sleep.
Regular exercise helps to improve sleep quality. Exercise should be done at least a couple of hours before going to bed; otherwise the mind may be too active, making it more difficult to sleep. We published a blog article on exercising with lupus which you can read here: lupusuk.org.uk/lupus-and-ex...
The NHS Choices’ website provides information on sleep hygiene which I hope you will find useful: nhs.uk/LiveWell/sleep/Pages...
