Why does my arms and legs get so jumpy , twitchy, for the need to move every second, it's driving me crazy the sensation is just awful, always starts happening in the evening, and disturbs my sleep. Just awful.

Hi molly19 I am exactly the same, but have found if I sit on the side of the bath, and sponge ir shower my legs just before bed, it very often stops it. Hope it works for you. Lucymay.

Hi molly19 ,

You may find this page on the NHS Choices website about Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) helpful - nhs.uk/Conditions/Restless-...

It includes some information about treatments and lifestyle changes that may help to alleviate it.

hi molly19 I don't need to keep moving my legs but my right thigh starts to ache and then jumps causing my whole leg to jump. This always happens in the night so it becomes impossible to sleep and sooo tired in the morning. I hope you find a cure for yours.

Hi Molly19, Suffered from restless legs last summer which interrupted my sleep. I found stretching the lower leg muscles stopped it. I grabbed my toes whilst pushing my leg out straight.

Worked for me.

I had a lot of this, but this is one of the things that gabapentin has helped. I used to get it in my legs, feet and arms.

Hi Ive had restless leg for a long time with the symptoms you describe. It definitely gets worse when my ferritin levels are lower. Please get them checked they are often missed as part of iron screening. I agree stretching lower limbs helps. I take pain killers before bed. I have just been put on Gabapentin so I will see how that goes.

Thanks. Forgot to say, it started with my legs at night. its been my lower arms at night and also legs when I rest during the day now as well. So it seems to be progressive. The neurologist I saw for seizures and migraine took it more seriously than the rheumy. It was him who mentioned the ferritin and that restless leg was neurological.

Hi - I have had this for many years. I rub Olbas Oil in circular motion on my elbows and knees and even my feet just prior to getting into bed. An odourless alternative is Deep Freeze - available in most big supermarkets. Just try it. Good luck.
