Hello Tulipano,

I'm afraid I have no idea, but your biopsy should certainly give you the answer. I'm sorry you are having such a worrying time lately and feeling so low. Do you think you'd benefit from doing some sort of anxiety/mood relieving stuff? There are some websites with ideas about this, or you could mention it to your GP? x

Hi Tulipano

I have no idea about kidneys but this link outlining 'Gastrointestinal and liver complications of Sjögren’s Syndrome might be useful bssa.uk.net/live/documents/...

Have you thought about the possibility of food intolerance? Coeliac is referenced in the article but there are other food intolerances which appear to be quite common in the Sjogren's/Lupus community. I've had a number of gastric issues that started with bloating but initially without other symptoms. I've been on a gluten free and dairy free diet and have found that although still bloated the symptoms were considerably reduced. They resumed as I tried gluten and dairy again.

However, I now know that if you think that coeliac is a possibility the tests require you to eat gluten for 6 weeks prior, so maybe it's best to discuss with your doctor before going gluten free.

Keep us posted and good luck with the biopsy. x

If you hardly eat you won't be getting enough hydration, so your internal organs will hang on to any fluid they can, & that will cause bloating.

So even if you can't eat much, try drinking some clear soups & drink plenty of water......whatever is causing your bloating you need to drink!

Hi,

I had a renal flare a few years ago.

Bloating does come with renal problems, as does difficulties with the digestive system.

This doesn't necessarily mean your having a renal flare though. Lupus can mess with the digestive system utterly independent of the renal stuff.

Hoping your biopsy comes back without too many problems.

X

I think it could be renal problems because I have blood in my urine. I hope not too serious. Thank you for your reply xx ❤

Hi,

Might just be a kidney infection - (menstrual blood contamination) and they're being doubly cautious ?

But if not, the new medications they have to treat a renal flare are really effective. I was utterly amazed at how much healing occurred with my kidneys. (and I was in serious trouble)

Please feel free to contact me if you like. I've been through it.
