Age spots on my right leg. Related to lupus?
Hi Jhavibha_2013,
Skin involvement is common in lupus, with 60-70% of people with lupus reporting some skin problem. Rashes can be induced by sunlight as well as other factors which are discussed in our guide called ‘Lupus and the Skin; lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, “One of the potential long-term side effects of using anti-malarial medications such as hydroxychloroquine, chloroquine and quinacrine is the development of dark-coloured patches on the skin. They often appear brown, black or black and blue and tend to develop on the legs, especially around the shins. However, they can happen anywhere on the body”.
Are you undergoing any treatment which you think may be causing this?
According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, excess hair growth can be caused by certain medication. You can discuss this with your doctor to see if he/she is able to provide you with advice or perhaps treatment to control this potential side effect.
Please keep us updated, wishing you all the best.
