Has he been checked for a blood clot?

hi does he have a deep ache worse when his toes are pushed upwards and back as hes lying down? is the pain intermittant has the pain been in his calf for a week or more and is the leg swollen or hot or is there discoloration( slight dark red/ bluish tinge to the lower leg? and has he been travellng where he was sitting for extended period either flying or long road trip? if he ticks yes he should be quickly checked in the emergency room or casualty .as these can all be indicators of possible bloodclots. most people think a bloodclot symptom causes huge swelling ,well it can do but in initial stages it can just feel like a deep throbbing ache. I have had 3 bloodclots 2 in my thighs and one inside my brain. i ignored what i thought first time was a crampy leg. it hurt more when i tried to walk long distances or was on my feet all day. By time i went to get my leg checked the clot went from my kneww to past my groin into my inferior vena cava. The extreme swelling and darker discoloration only cane 2 days after i was admitted. Dont take any chances its so easy to think oh its just cramp. also people with lupus can have stickier blood due to the widespread inflamation in the body due to their illness Better safe than sorry. Same also if the numb feeling in foot has either just come on or has got worse. in event of dr. being suspicious for nloodclot a simple D Dimer test can help confirm if there is a clot present. dont delay like i did. Be ause of my delay i ended up with a second blood clot in same place few months later as the vein was so da aged. I now have Post thromolitic syndrome and have pain in my leg most days and i have to wear tight compression stocking all the time.so be safe and get him checked out. good luck

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply.

1. have a deep ache worse when his toes are pushed upwards and back as hes lying down?

-> Yes he can't even touch it, he said the pain is insane, the worst of them is the smallest toe.

2. is the pain intermittent has the pain been in his calf for a week or more and is the leg swollen or hot or is there discoloration( slight dark red/ bluish tinge to the lower leg?

-> The pain in the calf is about 2 weeks old, however, the pain in the feet is far older. the ankle is swolen, no discoloration.

3. has he been travellng where he was sitting for extended period either flying or long road trip?

-> He's road trip to work takes at least 2-hours on daily basis

He has diabetes and he has placed 4 heart stent this year.

yep get him checked out asap. could very well be a clot.Incidently i had no major discoloration or even heat at the site of my clot yet it was very very large. what i did have was a few almost invisible new spider veins almost tiny pinpricks in some of them. so even though his foot pain predates that is probably nerve pain from his diabetes. he def needs evaluated swiftly.
