I have today being called in to see GP, respiratory physician thinks I could have PCP and requested I have a bronchoscope and wash. I have been on antibiotics for 4 weeks with no improvement. I refused to take anymore until they know what is causing my shortness of breath and tightness in chest and throat.
My GP thinks I need more emotional support and prescribed me Fluoxetine antidepressants. I am also on warfarin, hydrocloxcloine and methotrexate. I think the Fluoxetine interact with all these.
I asked my GP but didn't really get any help apart from I need to ring my Rheumatology.
Is anyone else taking antidepressants to help them?
Thank you all in advance.

What about trying steroids, mycophenolate and The of course the hydro chloroquine which you are already taking. I had also a bad chest that would not get better with antibiotics when it was diagnosed as pneumonia. Then with diagnosis of lupus, I was given steroids Iv to start with before going on to oral. My symptoms were similar to yours then. But the chest symptoms started getting better straight away. Antibiotics did not help.
With antidepressants, you need to look up the side effects and discuss that with your rheumatologist to see if you should change it to something different. Or get referred to someone that will know about the interactions.
Thank you for your reply. I have been on 30mg of steroids since Nov plus booster injections but just started to reduce the dose due to massive side effects (mouth and nose thrush).
I am on around 20 tablets a day and do wonder if my symptoms are due to meds.......
