Hello. I am just about recovering from a year long flare up, finally seem to be getting somewhere which feels amazing!!
I am due to have hip arthroscopy in 6 weeks. It was booked for a year ago but I was too ill to go through with it.
I am so incredibly nervous and apprehensive about it. It needs to be done and my surgeon has given me 60% chance of success, which I'm happy with. My hip problems preceded the Lupus and it's time I got it sorted.
But I've only just regained some kind of normality for me and my young children (and my husband!) . So feel I need all the help to plan my recovery.
Did your Lupus flare because of surgery? Did it take you longer to recover than those without connective tissue disease? What helped? What didn't ? Are you glad you had the surgery?
Thank you

My Lupus always flares when anything invades my body I always have a steroid injection before surgerys then it's not as bad. I do also have Addisions disease so my body doesn't make steroids. Ask your go or your Lupus doctor about it
Yes I tend to flare with any procedure, I had an endoscopy a few months ago and took me about a week to recover.
I had a steroid injection 3 was ago as I'd been told to reduce hydroxychloroquine which didn't go well and my heart and lymph glands reacted. Thankfully been allowed to increase dose again.
That's so good I wish the doctors would listen and understand we know our bodies and what they need. Hope you will have help ready for when you get home after op. If not talk to your doctor to see if you can get help. Good luck 😉
