It sounds like a flare, I would advise getting an emergency appointment with your GP in the morning, but don't stop your medication.

You are having a break through of lupus. Get to doctor asap.

It's ok. It takes a few months for hydroxy to start working well. It's definitely a flare, and should pass in a few days. I used to get the "flu" like every other week. Now, it's not very frequently and doesn't last long at all.

Dr told me to stop taking and will speak to my dermatologist to find alternative pill. The cream I'm using for my lupus marks is working really well the tablets were more for my hands which have raynaurds. How long does the face rash last?

It is difficult to say how long a face rash will last because it varies from person to person. Hopefully it will fade soon and then your dermatologist can try you on a different treatment. Let us know how you get on.

Its definitely getting a bit lighter each day, I just look a bit rosy cheeked now!!! Will keep you updated.

Hi there, I think that the others here are probably correct, but just thought i should add that 2 weeks after starting the same drug I also got a rash on my face which proceeded to cover my whole body. I went the GP who told my I am allergic to hydroxychloriquine. hope you are not but be aware it can happen like this. Good luck.

Yeah I think mine was an allergic reaction so have stopped. How long did your rash take to clear. Mine is fading slowly.

I had to go onto full steroids and 2 different types of antihistamines. It took about 6 to 8 weeks to stop breaking through again , although it took about 2 weeks to lose the initial. Rash which was all over my body.
